Colombia, La Esperanza
Region: Colombia
Processing: washed
Tasting Notes: lemonade, strawberry jam, cacao
The microclimate and volcanic soil from which our newest washed-process roast, La Esperanza, comes from in Colombia is one known to produce exceptional coffee, however third-generation producer Luis Morales and his family take nothing for granted. At 1800 meters above sea level, the berries are harvested and processed using green filters and an ecomill system to protect the water systems. Then the depulped berries undergo a five day fermentation, fifteen days of drying to the perfect humidity, storing for a maximum of thirty days, and are finally ready for final bagging and shipping. Morales’ care and dedication to producing the very best coffee shows with this single-origin.
Coffee tastes like coffee, but if you're paying attention, it also tastes like a lot of other things. La Esperanza has tasting notes of lemonade, strawberry jam, and cacao and sits as the most adventurous part of our line up. As with all our small batch varieties, quantities are limited.
